Madrid, Coctailes, flamenco and Prado

"Going to the hairdresser, having coffee at Starbuck, tapas in the bars, cocktails at the hottest clubs, dancing at the posh discothèques or Flamenco at a typical Spanish Tablao. Meeting the father of Ingrid and her half siblings, drinking champagne. Eating brunch at an oriental restaurant with really tasty food and relaxing in their large couches. " my time in Madrid

Thursday – Arriving late at the house of Ingrid, we only had time to eat some pasta and watch a movie; Mar adentro, with the flat mate of Ingrid, Raul.

Friday – Seeing the centre of the city, going to the hairdresser, cutting my hair a bit and making it a bit lighter and the hairdresser dried the hair making it strait, perfect for the party nights that was coming a head. After shopping a bit we went home to rest, eat and make us ready for the night. When we went to a posh club called the Glassbar where we had some expensive cocktails. Then we went on to a beautiful discothèque Palacio decorated like a palace dancing til morning, it’s incredible how fast the night can past way..

Saturday – Sunday Ingrid’s French father, her half-brother and sister and their mother, all with curly hair, came to visit on their way from Portugal where they bought a small hotel. We first had some coffee at a bar then went home to Ingrid to relax a bit and then having some champagne and going out to eat together. After eating Ingrid and I took a taxi to a Tablao, a flamenco bar, where we danced flamenco/sevillana and drank the night away. It is incredible how fun it is dancing flamenco, I have to learn it!!!

Sunday – After having some croissants in bed, we went to eat brunch at a oriental restaurant, Areia Chillout, in the gay district Chueca. The meal was fantastic and you got a cocktail with it.. he he. There we met up with Ingrids friend from Germany, a really nice girl, that ate with us. The place was great with big cozy sofas with a lot of cushions and candles.
Afterwards we first tried to go to the museum Reina Sofía, but it was closed so we went to Prado, which is free on Sundays. There we saw the exposition of Tintoretto, religious old paintings, but good. And they also had some very famous paintings of Velasquez and Goya that I liked. Afterwards we had a coffee at Starbucks and some beers and tapas at a bar before going home, making it a early night.

Monday – While Ingrid was at the university in the morning I walked around in the city, looking around. And at the afternoon we met up, and went from bar to bar eating tapas and drinking some wine, before we ended up in a fancy restaurant a la feng shui/modern minimalist, called Pandelujo, to drink cocktails ones again. Coming home and getting to bed at 2 am wile the next morning a had to wake up at 5 am to take the taxi, the metro and then the bus to go to the airport, because it always takes a lot of time when you want to go somewhere in Madrid.

Seeing the big and exciting city of Madrid that is more Spanish with people very open but also a big city with all the things that comes with it, like everything for everyone but also contamination and traffic jams, I couldn’t but feel a little relived arriving back to the land of the green mountains..
